Mary Lynn Hamilton, professor in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, joined the KU faculty in the fall of 1989 after receiving her PhD in teacher education from The University of Arizona. Since 2009 she has served as the Co-Editor of Teaching and Teacher Education, an International Journal of Research and Studies and one of the premier journals in teaching and teacher education. She also serves on various editorial boards, including Teaching and Teachers and Studying Teacher Education.
Dr. Hamilton specializes in curriculum & instruction, qualitative research, social justice/diversity/culturally responsive education, and development of professional knowledge.
With Dr. Stefinee Pinnegar, Dr. Hamilton has co-authored Self-Study of practice as a genre of qualitative research: Theory, methodology, and practice (2009); she has published her work in a variety of journals and has co-edited the International Handbook of Self Study of Teaching and Teacher Education Practices (2004). One strand of her research focuses on the development of teachers’ professional knowledge and the research methodologies that make explicit the development of that knowledge. Another strand explores issues of social justice with a cosmopolitan lens.
